Arronax is unique in its combination of characteristics:
- 70 MeV (70 million electron-volts) of energy, whereas most cyclotrons used for medical purposes are limited to 30 MeV.
- a maximum intensity of 750 microamperes (2 X 375 µA), whereas most “medical” cyclotrons are limited to 100 microamperes.
- the possibility of accelerating protons, deuterons and alpha particles, whereas most “medical” cyclotrons only accelerate protons.
